Fish Oil for Cholesterol

Fish oil for cholesterol is one of the discovered alternatives discovered by many doctors and researchers that would bring a person closer to good, if not, better health. Fish oil contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which refers to the polyunsaturated fats that are very helpful to one’s health.

Because of the increasing health risks brought about by improper diet and the growing trend for shedding off calories, many have tried various remedies and alternatives to be in a good physical shape.

Exercises and a strict diet inevitably are the primary methods in achieving this purpose, but some have also resorted to various kinds of supplements for weight loss, body cleansing, and disease prevention.

In essence, toxins, body fat and cholesterol are the bodily compositions that every individual is very vigilant about during the course of making a healthier life. This is because of the harmful effects they bring to a person’s well-being, such as irregularities and abnormalities on the bodily functions that can eventually lead to severe illnesses.

Omega-3 fatty acids contain docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) that lowers cholesterol in the body, which greatly helps in slowing down the hardening of arteries and the regulation of heartbeat.

These fatty acids are found on all fishes, most especially fatty fishes such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, and herring. Green leafy vegetables, soy and tofu, some cooking oils, nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds and flax seeds, also contain Omega-3 fatty acids.

Fish oil for cholesterol has been proven to be effective because this prevents the risk of heart diseases. Apparently, people who are at danger for having coronary heart disease can greatly benefit from the intake of fish oil.

Aside from the fact that fish oil increases the level of “good cholesterol”, it also lowers high-blood pressure. This is proven to really reduce the number of attacks in men who are suffering from angina.

Fish oil also helps in thinning of the blood and prevents the platelets from coming together, also known as clotting that can lead to heart attacks. It also reduces the symptoms of asthma, gallstones, atherosclerosis, Crohn’s disease, colitis, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

In many studies on the benefits of fish oil, it has been proven that fish oil for cholesterol is effective because it drops the level of triglycerides in the body. Triglyceride is a type of fat that provides the body energy on a daily basis but too much of it will be stored as fat.

When you decide on taking fish oil pills, you should remember that the average dosage is 2g-4g per day. More than this will require you to have a physician’s supervision. Too much intake will also lead to side effects.
